Thanks to all for a great evening of brew sampling and discussion. As far as meets go, this one was not too bad.

Welcome to new member Aaron from Gisborne who came along to his first meetup last night, was great to meet you and sample your beers.

Welcome back to Jeff after being in the new baby cocoon for the last month!

Beers tasted:

Berliner Weisse (plain version and blackcurrent version) - Rhys

Dark Red Ale - Jeff

Irish Red - Aaron

Saison - Aaron

Irish Red - Mark (?)

Red Ale - Rhys

Pilsner - Mark

Pilsner - Chris M

Pilsner - Paul

Dunkel - Paul

Golden Ale (?) - Mark

Apologies if I've forgotten any - big tasting last night! Good work to all, loads of solid beers, but particualry to Paul for the cracking Pils, and to Aaron for the saison which divided the crowd, but personally i thought was ace.

Decided as of next month (March) to begin scoring each others beers. I'll set up a template which we'll be able to download and bring along for each beer. It'll have anough columns for each taster to put down a score - we'll do something for the winner of each quarter, and probably an end of year prize as well. Consider putting an entry fee for each beer we bring? Maybe just $2.00 which then gets pooled to the winners? Discussion for March.

Coming up!

March - BRING A MATE

In keeping with our efforts to exand both the club and the hobby, next month we're being asked to bring a mate along. If we're getting a few new brewers along, might be a good idea to bring some ingredients to pass around and discuss the easier paths to get into brewing

April - BEERCO + BRING IN YOUR DOUBLE IPA

As previously discussed, we'll have a presention by Dermott, the sole importer of Gladfield Malt and various hops and yeast strains into Australia. Should be a great demo - bring your mates back! - Beer Style of the month is Double IPA, so brew big and brew hoppy.

May - Brewing Demonstration

We'll need a fair bit of co-ordination to make this work.. space, promotion, etc. Jump into the forum and get some ideas out there. It'd be great if someone else could take the lead on that one.

June - Salami Month!

Jeff has two lovely pigs reserved for us, currently waltzing around the paddock and eating pies. By June we'll have them butchered and ready for salami day. There'll be a costs to share and it will be a full day's work - date and cost TBA

Finally, Chris T has generously offered to let the brew club choose a beer to take up a tap at the George. Good time for everyone to sign into the forum and throw some beer ideas around.

Looking forward to tasting your Autumn brews, see you all next meet, March 24th
