Club News and New Brews

Well, it's been pretty busy at the MRBC the last few weeks. Club member Paul Chapman takes out silver for his German Pilsner at Beerfest, the club gets into the local paper (http://www.elliottmidnews.com.au/story/3822844/a-growing-craft-brewing-industry/) and we've sorted out our first club bulk malt buy, bringing in over half a ton of quality Gladfield Malt!

On top of all that, the March meetup was a hoot, with the introduction of our new scoring system for judging each other's beers, and a whole bunch of new faces around the table. Chris Morton won the day with his German Pilsner (we seem to be good at those!) and the full results of the day's tastings can be found here: http://macedonrangesbrewe.wix.com/brew-club#!mrbc-brew-comp/lfrqo. As you can see, lots of different beers were brought to the table, demonstrating a wide range of styles.

The April meetup is also looking to be a good one, as we have Dermott from beerco.com.au coming up to give us a talk on the various malts and hops he brings into the country. Should be fascinating and fun. There may even be prizes!

Additionally, our first style club comp for the year will be up for tasting at the April meet - the great DOUBLE IPA showdown. Brewing these beers has proven .. um... educational for many of us, so it will be interesting to see how each of us has interpreted the style.

As usual, new members are always welcome, so if you have a brew you wish to share and maybe have scored ($2 entry to have a beer scored) - print out the score sheet here: http://macedonrangesbrewe.wix.com/brew-club#!files/sqorr and come along to the next meetup at the Royal George. The parma there is also bloody good.

Happy brewing!

Rhys
