Hi Brewers, A huge congratulations to Chris Morton for his 2nd place in the Wheat Beer section in the Melbourne Brewers Beerfest. What a beer his Roggenbier is.
After your great feed back from the meeting last month we have put together a program for the next few months.
March
29th Autumn beers - Malt driven beers (Brown ales/ English bitters, any beer that Malt driven). We will show case some commercial examples, chat about the different styles and most of all talk about malt.
April
Weekend event
22nd/23rd (what ever is the best day for Aaron), Sour barrel empty/fill. Perfect to see Aaron’s brewing set up and ask him some questions.
26th Sour Talk, discussions and tasting of the different styles of sour beers and hopefully taste our own if Rhys is able to Keg part of his quantity.
May
13th Brewing demo – venue to be decided, hopefully 2 to 3 different brewing techniques/ systems and software.
31st Beer co talk with Dermot (main supplier of Gladfield Malts). Still to be confirmed. Or how to brew Cider chat.
June
28th Challenge month – we all brew a style/recipe compare and discuss. To be decided by club next meet
July
22nd winter warmer fest. Jason’s house in woodend.(date TBC) Pizza and beer (he has just built a pizza oven). Brew a winter beer, anything that’s high alcohol and warming, to take the chill off, and design a Pizza topping to match your beer.
26th Yeast. How much does it affect the flavour of your beer? A discussion on different yeasts, what we all use, how long can you keep it etc… Taste some yeast driven beers.
