Well, we are well into March and the Clubs projects are chugging along nicely. Our Sour Barrel project has entered in to Stage 3, an Oud Bruin recipe has been designed by our master sourer and is now in the barrel. Stage 2's Flanders Red style brew has more funk the Prince and Red Hot Chilli Peppers put together, but it is well balanced.
The first stage of our Bourbon Barrel project is nearing its end with stage 2 underway as well. A date has been set to bottle the Russian Imperial Stout an Wee Heavy, but before that, we need something else to put into the two barrels. It was put to the vote and the new beers are another Wee Heavy, but a Brewdog Recipe called Dogma, and a Belgian Tripel. the worts are being cooked over the next week and they will be in the fermenters next weekend.
Last month saw the return of Melbourne Brewers Beerfest and the club did well again with 2 seconds and a third in class.
We also had a fun night with other victorian brew clubs, thanks to Harkers Brewery getting hold of some unattainable hops from South Africa and remembering there routes, giving them to various brew clubs, with one condition, to brew a beer or two and to have a taste off with other clubs. We did this and a great night was had by all.
Coming up, we have been invited to to join the Good Beer Week Single Malt And Single Hop (SMASH) challenge and we will be brewing a beer, yet to be decided, for Good Beer Week in May. the beers will be judged by YOU in a peoples choice Competition.
Well thats about it for the moment, but stand by for more developments
